THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD VA HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO
NEAR MECHANICSVILLE IN HANOVER COUNTY VIRGINIA ON JUNE 30 2012.

AN NWS STORM SURVEY HAS CONCLUDED THAT THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND
FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, WITH A PATH ABOUT SEVEN AND ONE HALF MILES IN
LENGTH AND 50 TO 100 HUNDRED YARDS IN WIDTH. THE TORNADO PRODUCED
DAMAGE CONSISTENT WITH AN EF-0 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE, DOWNING
NUMEROUS TREES AND PRODUCING SOME MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IN THE
AREA.

THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN NEAR WILLIAMSVILLE ACRES
LANE AROUND 8:11 PM AND THEN TRACKED SOUTH-SOUTHEAST BEFORE LIFTING
AROUND 8:20 PM EAST OF MECHANICSVILLE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CROWN
HILL ROAD AND STATE ROUTE 628.
