The Eleventh Northeast Regional Operational Workshop (NROW) will be held Wednesday and Thursday, 4-5 November 2009, at the University at Albany Alumni House Auditorium, 1400 Washington Ave, Albany, New York on the University at Albany Campus. The workshop will be co-sponsored by the National Weather Service Office at Albany, New York, and the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University at Albany. The American Meteorological Society is a cooperating organization.
Papers are welcome on all aspects of Northeast United States and Southeast Canadian operational weather forecasting and should focus on the topics listed. Sessions will focus on, northeast coastal storms, terrain effects, heavy precipitation forecasting, hydrology, northeast severe storms, lake effect, use of high-resolution model data, mesoscale modeling, enhancement of the digital forecast process, CSTAR funded research, and the integration of new technology into operations. Presentations will only be given in oral form. Presenters should submit a one page abstract in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font. Abstracts that are in other fonts or formats will be returned. Presenters should either mail a CDROM with their presentation to the address for the Steering Committee below, or upload it to the designated website no later than 1pm EDT Thursday 29 October 2009. Website login will be provided to presenters in mid October 2009. Presentations must be in Microsoft Powerpoint. Conference presentations will be limited to 34. The Steering Committee reserves the right to decline abstracts that do not address conference foci.
No registration fee will be charged, however registration is mandatory online at the conference web page by 22 October 2009. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 4pm EDT 26 October 2009. Abstracts should be submitted electronically as email attachments. Presentations should be sent to NROW Steering Committee, c/o Warren R. An abstracts book will only be available online, and should be posted at the conference webpage no later than 30 October 2008. Rooms Rate: $111 (tax exempt). Hotel has a copy of tax exempt statement. Gov rate may be increased October 1, 2009.
Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out time is 12 noon. Arrivals prior to 3:00 p.m. will be accommodated as soon as possible, but should be advised that there may be a wait.

University at Albany Alumni House: The University at Albany Alumni house is located on the campus of the University at Albany.

From the South: I-87 (Thruway) to Exit 24 (second Albany exit); I-90 East to Exit 2. Cross Washington Avenue onto campus and turn right; you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
From the North: I-87 (Northway) to Exit 1; I-90 East to Exit 2; cross Washington Avenue onto campus and turn right; you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
From the East: I-90 West to Exit 2; left onto Fuller Road, then left onto Washington Avenue. At traffic light turn right onto the campus. When you enter the campus, turn right; you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
From the West: I-90 (Thruway) to Exit 24 (left exit); I-90 East to Exit 2. When you enter the campus, turn right; you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
From Albany International Airport: Exit the airport onto Albany-Shaker Rd.; follow signs to I-87; turn right onto I-87 South; Take I-90 East to Exit 2; cross Washington Avenue onto the campus. When you enter the campus, turn right you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
From the Cresthill Suites, Cross Washington Avenue onto the campus. When you enter the campus, turn right you are now on University Drive. The Alumni house will be on the right side of University Drive.
Parking at Alumni House for NROW XI
Parking for NROW XI is across the street from Alumni House. Parking is $3.00 per day, and a pass is required. To obtain a pass, pull up in front of Alumni House, and go inside to purchase your parking pass for the day. Fill out the pass and place on your dashboard. Then proceed to park on the lot across the street. You will need a pass for each day.
For those on Government Travel orders this should be a miscellaneous expense when you complete your travel voucher.
