The Twelfth Northeast Regional Operational Workshop (NROW) will be held Wednesday through Friday, 3-5 November 2010, at the CSTEM Auditorium, on the University at Albany Campus.  The workshop will be co-sponsored by the National Weather Service Office at Albany, New York, and the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (DAES), University at Albany.  The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is a cooperating organization.                                                                                     
Papers are welcome on all aspects of Northeast United States and Southeast Canadian operational weather forecasting and should focus on the topics listed.  Sessions will focus on, northeast coastal storms, terrain effects, heavy precipitation forecasting, hydrology, northeast severe storms, lake effect, use of high-resolution model data, mesoscale modeling, enhancement of the digital forecast process, CSTAR funded research, and the integration of new technology into operations.  Presentations will only be given in oral form.  Presenters should submit a one page abstract in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font.  Abstracts that are in other fonts or formats will be returned.  Presenters should either mail a CDROM with their presentation to the address for the Steering Committee below, or upload it to the designated  website no later than 4pm EDT Monday 1 November 2010.  Website login will be provided to presenters in mid October 2010.  Presentations must be in Microsoft Powerpoint.  Conference presentations will be limited to 45.  The Steering Committee reserves the right to decline abstracts that do not address conference foci.
           
No registration fee will be charged, however registration is mandatory online at the conference website.  Registration will open August 1, 2010, and must be completed by 4pm EDT, Thursday 21 October 2010.  The deadline for submission of abstracts is 4pm EDT Thursday, 21 October 2010.  Abstracts should be submitted electronically as email attachments.  Presentations should be sent to NROW Steering Committee, c/o Warren R. Snyder, National Weather Service Forecast Office, 251 Fuller Road, Suite B300, Albany, New York 12203, 518-435-9569; e-mail: warren.snyder@noaa.gov.  An abstracts book will only be available online, and should be posted at the conference webpage no later than 29 October 2010.  For additional information contact either Warren Snyder or Peggy Kelly, at the address above, or by fax at 518-435-9587; e-mail: peggy.kelly@noaa.gov.  For conference information, online registration, hotel, general information refer to Internet address http://www.erh.noaa.gov/aly/NROW/nrow12.htm.   A block of rooms will be reserved in early August 2010.  You should check the conference webpage during the late summer for particulars, and make your reservation.

Hotel Information

We have reserved a block of Rooms at CrestHill Suites at the government rate.  You must download your tax exempt form from this website (below) and submit it to the hotel when checking in.  Reservations must be made by phone at 518-454-0007 by October 5, 2010. Guests should specify they are with "NROW Conference" when making reservations.

Whats new
If you arrive by plain or train, you may call the hotel and they will send a shuttle for you at the airport/Amtrak station. There is a full breakfast buffet, and light dinner each day at the hotel.

There will be daily shuttles to the NROW at CESTM on the UAlbany Campus from the hotel. 

Those who insist on driving should park on the "F" lot.

OFFICE LOCATION: The office is in Suite B300 on the third floor of the Center for Environmental Science and Technology Management (CESTM). CESTM is on the campus of the University at Albany, one of the four major centers of the State University of New York (SUNY).

From I-90, Exit 2 - Fuller Road . Follow Fuller Road one block south of Washington Avenue and turn right on Tricentennial Drive. Stay on Tricentennial and follow signs for F Lot.

From the Albany Airport, exit the airport following the signs to interstate 87.  Head south on I-87 (Northway).  Take I-87 south until it ends and turn to the left onto Route 20 (Western Avenue).  Travel a short distance past Stuyvesant Plaza and take a left at the light onto Fuller Road.  Turn left on Tricentennial Drive. Stay on Tricentennial and follow signs for F Lot.

From the Cresthill Suites, proceed west on Washington Ave make a left at that light onto Fuller Road At the next traffic light take a right onto Tricentennial Drive. Stay on Tricentennial and follow signs for F Lot.
