The Thirteenth Northeast Regional Operational Workshop (NROW) will be held Wednesday and Thursday, 2-3 November 2011, at the CSTEM Auditorium, on the University at Albany Campus. The workshop will be co-sponsored by the National Weather Service Office at Albany, New York, and the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (DAES), University at Albany. The American Meteorological Society is a cooperating organization.
Papers are welcome on all aspects of Northeast United States and Southeast Canadian operational weather forecasting and should focus on the topics listed. Sessions will focus on, northeast coastal storms, terrain effects, heavy precipitation forecasting, hydrology, northeast severe storms, lake effect, use of high-resolution model data, mesoscale modeling, enhancement of the digital forecast process, CSTAR funded research, and the integration of new technology into operations. Presentations will only be given in oral form. Presenters should submit a one page abstract in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font. Abstracts that are in other fonts or formats will be returned. Presenters should either mail a CDROM with their presentation to the address for the Steering Committee below, or upload it to the designated website no later than 9am EDT Tuesday 1 November 2011. Website login will be provided to presenters in mid October 2011. Presentations must be in Microsoft Powerpoint. Conference presentations will be limited to 45. The Steering Committee reserves the right to decline abstracts that do not address conference foci.
No registration fee will be charged, however registration is mandatory online at the conference website. Registration will open September 7, 2011, and must be completed by 4pm EDT, Monday 24 October 2011. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 4pm EDT Thursday, 20 October 2011. Abstracts should be submitted electronically as email attachments. Presentations should be sent to NROW Steering Committee, c/o Warren R. An abstracts book will only be available online, and should be posted at the conference webpage no later than 28 October 2011. Our Keynote speaker at NROW XIII will be John I. Garver, Ph.D. of Union College. His talk will be titled
"A Historical Perspective of Flooding in the Mohawk Watershed related to Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee"

For guests interested in transportation from the airport, train station or bus station CrestHill Suites has a shuttle. shuttle hours are listed below. Please note they require 24 hours advance notice to reserve the shuttle as it is available on a first come first serve basis. It is helpful if guests let us know if they will be needing the shuttle when they make their reservations so we can see if the shuttle will be available for them.

OFFICE LOCATION: The office is in Suite B300 on the third
floor of the Center for Emerging Sciences and Technology Management (CESTM) building.
CESTM is on the campus of the University at Albany, one of the four major
centers of the State University of New York (SUNY).
From I-90, Exit 2
- Fuller Road: Follow Fuller Road one block south of Washington
Avenue to traffic circle at Tri-Centennial Drive and bear right onto Tri-Centennial Drive West. Stay on Tri-Centennial and follow signs for F Lot.
From the Albany Airport: Exit the airport following the signs to Interstate-87. Head south on I-87 (Northway). Take I-87 south until it ends and
turn to the left onto Route 20 (Western Avenue). Travel a short distance
past Stuyvesant Plaza and take a left at the light onto Fuller Road. At the traffic circle follow signs for Tri-Centennial Drive West. Stay on Tri-Centennial and follow signs for F Lot.
