Severe Thunderstorm Outbreak
June 16, 2008

A warm and moist unstable airmass, dew points in the mid to upper 60s, was in place across the region the morning of June 16th. A cold front approached from the west and moved across the local area during the afternoon and evening hours and eventually offshore on the 17th. Thunderstorms developed along and ahead of the cold front as it passed through the area. With unseasonably cold air aloft, most of the severe weather that occurred was large hail 3/4 of an inch or greater with 2 inch hail reported in Albany County.
