A nor 'easter impacted the region with abundant moisture and windy conditions. Temperatures varied greatly from the valleys into the higher terrain. There was some snow, sleet and freezing rain across higher elevations, generally above 1000 feet, in the eastern Catskills, Helderbergs, southern Adirondacks, Berkshires, Litchfield Hills and southern Vermont. The highest snowfall totals of 5 to 11 inches were reported across the central and southeastern Catskills. As for precipitation totals, they varied greatly across the local area as precipitation favored the higher terrain and valley locations experienced downsloping. Precipitation amounts in the Capital District were generally less than a quarter of an inch with some locales reporting less than five hundredths. Locally, the highest precipitation totals of 2 to 4 inches were reported across the higher terrain of the eastern Catskills, Berkshires and Litchfield Hills. Much higher precipitation totals occurred to our south and east with amounts up to 6 to 8 inches. |
