The area was in a warm, humid and very unstable air mass on Wednesday, June 8th. A strong disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere moved across the region, tapping the explosive instability and triggering severe thunderstorms that produced large hail and damaging winds during the late afternoon hours into the early morning hours of Thursday, June 9th.
