Eta time-height forecast at SYR of convergence
This time-height diagram shows the persistent pattern of low-level convergence, capped by a corresponding layer of divergence, at the Syracuse forecast point. Strong upward vertical motion would occur in the gradient between the low-level convergence and mid-level divergence. The pattern was forecast to be most intense from 21z on the 2nd, through 15z on the 3rd.
