Summary
The March 16-17 storm produced moderate (5 to 10 inch) amounts of snow across a broad area of central New York and northeast Pa.
A narrow band of heavy snow occurred just northwest of the snow / mixed precipitation line.
The heavy snow band was associated with enhanced frontal-scale forcing, instability and a favorable thermal profile for dendritic snow crystal growth.
