Spot and Fire Presuppression Forecasts
Requesting spot forecasts has never been easier thanks to a program called NWS Spot. Spot forecasts for Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania are requested and accessed using the following website address:

http://spot.nws.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/spot/spotmon?site=bgm

If you want to call in a spot forecast: simply call 607-798-6625. When calling in a request, please use this form for the spot forecasts. When requesting a spot forecast it is of utmost importance to provide our forecasters with the following information:
  1. The name of the agency
  2. Location and size of the fire
  3. Elevation/Geography/Topography
  4. Recent weather observations which includes temperature, wind, wind direction and RH.
  5. Any additional information that would help the forecaster
This information helps us provide the best possible forecast. It is simple, the better the observations that we receive, the better the forecasts will be.
David Morford, Fire Weather Focal Point.
