A Focus on Flash Flood Operations

This session will focus on standardizing the NWS definition of flash flooding and improving consistency across weather offices on product issuance and classification of events into StormData. It will also look at how operations are handled in the fast responding headwaters region.

NWS offices will receive topics and instructions in advance of the conference. Participants will use office input and response to work toward a consensus resolution on the issues. Participants will break up into topical discussion groups. Results from the individual groups will be reported back to the general session.

Brent Macaloney, WSH Performance Branch - "Storm-Based" verification began on October 1, 2009.
This session will look at how offices issue warnings, follow-up on events, and input data into StormData for verification.
