Theme: “Be Aware…Be Prepared!”

The National Weather Service in Taunton, Massachusetts, will host the first stop of the 2007 East Coast Hurricane Awareness Tour at Quonset State Airport in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Information stations will also be set up near the plane so you can learn about hurricane safety and preparedness.

There will also be a full day’s worth of activities for public safety officials and middle school students from the West Bay area, including pre-scheduled briefings hosted by the Quonset Point Air National Guard Base, along with a host of media from across Southern New England.

Everyone is cordially invited to attend the public tour between 3 and 6 PM .

 

In preparation for the visit, there will be a live broadcast on all NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards stations run by the National Weather Service in Taunton .  The show, entitled “Dinner with Dunham,” will air on Monday, April 23 at 630 PM.  The program will be hosted by Alan Dunham, Observation Program Manager at the NWS Taunton office. 

 

MEDIA:  Please contact Glenn Field at the National Weather Service in Taunton to set up interview times with members from the National Hurricane Center media relations team that will be on site, including Director Bill Proenza, Senior Hurricane Specialist Richard Knabb PhD, and Hurricane Specialist Michelle Mainelli.
