Like to schedule a SKYWARN talk?
On-site SKYWARN training is conducted on a limited
basis to larger groups or as a part of larger organized outreach events. We
often work through state and county emergency management agencies in northern
New York and Vermont. Working with/through these groups may be a good place to
start if you're considering hosting a SKYWARN training session. To arrange a talk
with the National Weather Service in Burlington, please have the following
ready before contacting us:
1.
Have a facility, date and time established, with
preferably a back-up date and time. Email Scott Whittier (scott.whittier@noaa.gov) or John Goff
(john.goff@noaa.gov) to check
availability.
2.
Class sizes are generally offered for at least 15 individuals.
3.
Classes will generally be offered Monday through
Thursday, though if planned well in advance, exceptions may be made for a Friday
or Saturday date. No sessions will be
offered on Sundays.
4.
Talks are usually held in the evening with start times
from 5pm to 7pm and last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
5.
Provide a volunteer, or contact point from your group
to help in organizing the talk.
6.
All training is free and open to the public.
