ABOUT THE TRAINING
Welcome to the National Weather Service in Burlington's Online SKYWARN Training Program. This training is provided for the convenience of re-certification of existing SKYWARN storm spotters, and also for those interested in becoming certified SKYWARN storm spotters for the National Weather Service in Burlington, VT.
For utility and ease of download, the training has been divided into different sections, ranging between 4 and 12 minutes in length. The sections will cover all aspects of severe weather across the North Country, including information on thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, tornadoes
and flash flooding. Each section will also contain stated objectives and practice questions to test your knowledge of the material.
After completing all sections and reviewing the stated training objectives and practice questions, you'll be ready to receive your SKYWARN certificate. Please proceed to the certification link that follows the testing. It is here that you'll provide your personal information (name, address, phone number) so that we may update our spotter database. Recall this information is strictly confidential, resides only here in our local office and is not kept in an online internet database (we need to know who and where you are when you call in with a storm report!). After receiving your updated information, I'll send you your re-certification certificate.
Additional Information:
Should you have any questions, or encounter any problems while taking the training please send me an email at john.goff@noaa.gov and I'll be happy to help you out. Now, if you're ready to begin please proceed to the SKYWARN Training Portal link where you'll find all the training sections you'll need to complete your SKYWARN recertification.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to help the National Weather Service in Burlington and your community.
PC REQUIREMENTS
