THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY REGION OF NEW YORK GETS A NEW NOAA ALL HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO TRANSMITTER
Saint Lawrence Valley New York region residents, visitors and mariners now have access to weather information anytime, thanks to a new NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio transmitter recently installed on White Hill near Parishville NY.
The weather radio station, KBS-508, broadcasts on a frequency of 162.525 MHz, and provides weather information, forecasts and warnings for the counties of Saint Lawrence, Franklin, Jefferson and Lewis as well as the adjacent Saint Lawrence River. The station is operated and maintained by the NWS Forecast Office in Burlington VT, however some broadcast content comes from the NWS Forecast Office in Buffalo NY.
The radio broadcast was made possible through a partnership between NOAA and Saint Lawrence County Emergency Services, with site facilities provided by the Saint Lawrence-Lewis County BOCES.
