EASTER SUNDAY

THE WARMEST EASTER OCCURRED ON APRIL 18, 1976 WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED 81 DEGREES. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED ON EASTER WAS 5 DEGREES ON APRIL 1, 1923.

THERE IS ROUGHLY A 60 PERCENT CHANCE OF HAVING PRECIPITATION OF A TRACE OR MORE. THE MOST PRECIPITATION EVER RECORDED ON AN EASTER SUNDAY WAS 0.91 INCH ON APRIL 3, 1988. THE MOST SNOW ON AN EASTER WAS 1.3 INCHES ON APRIL 3, 1994.

ON EASTER IN 1912, APRIL 7TH, A WIND STORM DROVE THE ICE INTO THE ENTRANCE OF THE INNER HARBOR AND UP THE CREEK FORCING LARGE FIELDS OF ICE DOWN THE RIVER. THE GALE LOOSENED THE ANCHORAGE OF TWO LARGE STEAMERS AND FORCED THEM INTO SHALLOW WATER.

ON EASTER 1974, APRIL 14TH, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM SWEPT ACROSS CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY. A SMALL TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN FRENCH CREEK BUT ONLY MINOR DAMAGE WAS REPORTED.
