2004-05 Eastern Great Lakes Ice Cover Shots

March 14, 2005

You can't get much clearer skies than this.  It provides an excellent view of the ice cover on both Lakes Erie and Ontario (faintly visible on the south shore) in this image.  The blue patch on the east end of Lake Erie (where the arrow points) is the open water on the other side of the ice boom.  The map projections are slightly off in this image.  Although the National Ice Chart chart id taken from a couple of days earlier, it matches up pretty well with the satellite image.
