Lake Erie ice cover Feb 15th, 2004

| This image was taken at 2:15PM on February 15th. Lake Erie is pretty much frozen over, though you can see open leads on the lake and there seems to be some open water just east of Long Point. On Lake Ontario meanwhile, there is plenty of open water. The only significant ice is at it northeast end, near the St. Lawrence River. By the way, those are a few lake effect snow clouds just north of Rochester on Lake Ontario and the swirl in the clouds at the west end of Lake Erie is likely a little mesolow that made its way down the lake on NE flow. Also notice the ice cover on Chautauqua Lake. |
