.NOTABLE WEATHER EVENTS...

AUGUST 2ND...
A SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES...AND
PRODUCED LARGE HAIL...IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS.

AUGUST 7TH...
LOCALIZED HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING OCCURED IN THE GREATER AUGUSTA
AND MARTINEZ AREA.

AUGUST 9TH...
A SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES
IN MANY LOCATIONS.

AUGUST 11TH...
SLOW MOVING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED IN A VERY MOIST
ENVIRONMENT AND PRODUCED VERY HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING IN THE
GREATER AUGUSTA AREA. 4.95 INCHES OF RAIN FELL AT AUGUSTA DANIEL
FIELD...4.16 INCHES OF THIS FELL IN ABOUT A 2 1/2 HOUR PERIOD.
4.66 INCHES FELL AT AUGUSTA BUSH FIELD...ESTABLISHING A RECORD
DAILY RAINFALL AMOUNT FOR THE DATE.

AUGUST 28TH/29TH...
THE CIRCULATION ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE ISAAC
IN THE GULF OF MEXICO BROUGHT A COPIOUS AMOUNT OF ATMOSPHERIC
MOISTURE NORTHWARD INTO OUR REGION ALONG WITH AN OLD FRONTAL
BOUNDARY. THESE FACTORS COMBINED WITH SOME UPPER ENERGY AND DAYTIME
HEATING TO PRODUCE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT PRODUCED
HEAVY RAIN ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE REGION.
