.COLUMBIA SC...
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH AT COLUMBIA METROPOLITAN
AIRPORT WAS 85.0 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.8 DEGREES WARMER THAN
NORMAL...AND ESTABLISHED JULY 2012 AS THE 4TH WARMEST JULY ON
RECORD FOR THE COLUMBIA AREA. 2 DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE 
SET OR TIED...AND 2 DAILY RECORD WARM MINIMUM TEMPERATURES WERE SET. 
THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH WAS 106 ON THE 1ST. THE COOLEST 
TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH WAS 68 ON THE 4TH. NOTE...3 OUT OF THE TOP 
5 WARMEST JULYS ON RECORD AT COLUMBIA HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST 3 
CONSECUTIVE YEARS. THE WARMEST JULY ON RECORD AT COLUMBIA WAS JULY 
1993...WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 86.2 DEGREES.

.AUGUSTA GA...
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH AT AUGUSTA BUSH FIELD WAS 83.7
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.1 DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 
11TH WARMEST JULY ON RECORD FOR THE AUGUSTA AREA. 3 DAILY RECORD 
HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE SET...AND NO DAILY RECORD WARM MINIMUM 
TEMPERATURES WERE SET. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH WAS 104 
ON THE 1ST. THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH WAS 65 ON THE 4TH. 
THE WARMEST JULY ON RECORD AT AUGUSTA WAS JULY 1993...WHEN THE 
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 86.2 DEGREES.

.COLUMBIA SC...
6.96 INCHES OF RAIN FELL AT COLUMBIA METROPOLITAN AIRPORT IN 
JULY...WHICH WAS 1.50 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL VALUE OF 5.46
INCHES. THIS WAS THE HIGHEST MONTHLY RAINFALL TOTAL AT COLUMBIA 
SINCE JULY OF 2010.

.AUGUSTA GA...
ONLY 1.54 INCHES OF RAIN FELL AT AUGUSTA BUSH FIELD DURING THE
MONTH OF JULY...WHICH WAS 2.79 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL MONTHLY
VALUE OF 4.33 INCHES. THIS WAS TIED FOR THE 6TH DRIEST JULY ON 
RECORD AT AUGUSTA. 


.NOTABLE WEATHER EVENTS...

JULY 1ST...
A VERY HOT DAY AND A WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK OCCURRED ON 
THE 1ST. COLUMBIA AND AUGUSTA RECORDED 106 AND 104 DEGREES 
RESPECTIVELY...AND BOTH SITES ESTABLISHED NEW DAILY RECORD 
HIGH TEMPERATURES FOR THAT DATE. EXTREME INSTABILITY LED TO SEVERE 
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AN INCREDIBLE 
TOTAL OF 86 LARGE HAIL AND/OR DAMAGING WIND GUST EVENTS OCCURRED 
ACROSS THE MIDLANDS AND CSRA. FLASH FLOODING ALSO OCCURRED ALONG THE 
ROCKY BRANCH CREEK IN COLUMBIA.
