WFO Caribou Welcomes New Intern

WFO Caribou welcomes our latest edition, a Meteorologist
intern named Derrick Weitlich. Derrick
was born in 1981 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He attended Lafayette High
School and graduated in the top 10 percent of
his class. Afterwards, he went to the University of Missouri-Columbia where
he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Atmospheric Science and a minor
in Mathematics. While at MU, he received several honors including induction
into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International
Honor Society, and Gamma Sigma Delta. He was an active member of the local
AMS chapter at MU and held the positions of Activities Chair and Secretary
throughout his membership there. He then continued his education at Florida
State niversity
and obtained his M.S. in Meteorology under the supervision of Dr. Carol Anne
Clayson.
Derrick has held several positions in the meteorological
field including working as an agricultural forecaster, MU campus weather forecaster,
weather map curator, Atmospheric Science undergraduate research assistant,
and a volunteer at the Tallahassee NWS office.
