    2/16-17......Trace-1" frozen precipitation...Edisto Island northwest to Holly Hill & Florence.
    2/26-27......Freezing rain & ice hit most of SC...1-2.5" north of a line...Anderson to Georgetown.

  • 1964
    1/1..............Severe ice storm/high winds hit most of SC. Aiken, Bamberg, Edgefield, Orangeburg, and Anderson counties were hardest hit.
    2/21-22......Trace of snow at Summerville.
    11/30-12/1.Trace of snow in northeastern SC.

  • 1965
    1/16-17.......Snow, sleet, and freezing rain spread over most of SC.
    1/18-19.......Trace of snow at Edisto Island, Summerville &Sandhills experimental station.
    3/5-6...........Trace of snow over most of SC.
    3/31.............Trace of snow at Charleston Airport.

  • 1966
    1/20-22.......Trace of snow over areas of coastal SC.
    1/25-27.......Severe ice storm..Dillon to McCormick & southward. Snow accumulations up to 3" in southern SC. Areas north of the line received 3-6" snow.
    12/30-31.....Columbia, Bamberg & Brookgreen Gardens all reported a trace of snow.

    2/9-10..........Snow over most of SC. Mixed with rain on the coast.
    2/13.............Trace at Conway and Charleston.
    12/23...........Trace at Sullivans Island.

  • 1968
    1/24-25.........Snow across entire state of SC.
    2/8................Snow over extreme southern tip SC...1-4" snow from Ridgeland southward.
    2/18..............Trace of snow at Ridgeland and Edisto Island.
    2/22-25........Up to 6.8" of snow fell across midlands and coastal plains of SC. Greatest amounts in Colleton and Hampton counties.
    3/23.............Trace at Brookgreen Gardens.

  • 1969
    1/4-5............Trace-1.1" of snow over extreme northeastern SC.
    1/27-28........Trace-1" of frozen precipitation fell over all SC except southern coastal plain.
    3/3-8............A six day period began with the Charleston area recording 1-2" snow on the 3rd & 4th. The remainder of the period saw traces reported across SC.

  • 1970
    1/23-24........Snow over all of SC. Trace of snow along the coast.
    2/10-11........Trace of snow across most of central and eastern SC.
    11/24............Trace of snow at Edisto Island.

  • 1971
    1/1...............Up to 3" snow and sleet fell over the northern half of SC.
    1/7-9............Freezing rain affected the southern coast of SC.
    1/18-20........Trace of frozen precipitation reported across most of SC.
    2/3-4............Trace of snow at Charleston.
    2/8................Trace of snow at Ninety-Nine and Edisto Island.
    12/3-4...........Freezing rain affected central and northeastern SC. Severe coastal erosion.

    1/16..............Trace of snow at Lake City, Andrews, and Charleston.
    2/19-20.........Trace of snow at Edisto Island.

  • 1973
    1/7-9.............A combination of snow and ice spread across all of SC. Trace along south coast to several inches in northern half.
    1/11...............Trace of snow at Charleston.
    2/8-11...........A record snowstorm dumped up to 2' of snow in the midlands of SC. Amounts ranged from 2-10" along the immediate coast, to 8-15" in the coastal plains. Six foot snow drifts in some areas.
    2/18..............Trace at Charleston.
    12/17............Snow.Bamberg to Charleston. 1-6" over north central & northeastern SC.

  • 1976
    1/16-18.........Trace of snow over most of SC.

  • 1977
    2/16-17.........Trace-0.3" snow over the coastal plain north of a line from Edisto Island to Georgetown, northward to Lake City.

  • 1978
    1/12-15.........Less than 1/2" snow, sleet, & freezing rain across SC.
    2/8-9.............2.3" snow in eastern SC. Trace of snow on coast.
    2/21-24.........All but southern SC received a trace-3" snow. 1" at Manning.

  • 1979
    2/6-9.............Snow over most of SC. Trace of snow in eastern portion.
    2/12..............Trace of snow at McClellanville.
    2/17-19.........Up to 12" of snow in northern SC. Snow, sleet, & freezing rain mixture in central SC. Severe ice damage in Charleston.

  • 1980
    1/30-2/1.........Ice storm. Less than 1" north of a line from Myrtle Beach to Columbia.
    2/4-7..............Freezing rain & sleet occurred over the northern coast.
    2/11...............Trace of snow at Loris (Horry County).
    2/17...............Trace of snow at Charleston Airport.
    3/1-4.............Winter mixture amounts to less than 2" in southern SC.

    1/25................. 1" snow officially at Charleston International Airport. Big storm for SE and Mid-Atlantic. 1-2" across Charleston and Beaufort areas. Over 12" in parts of the upstate between Greenville-Spartanburg and Charlotte. Up to 20" in Raleigh-Durham, NC.

    1/26..................2" snow officially at Charleston International Airport. 1-3" across Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Little elsewhere, very localized.

  • 2002
    1/2-3................. Trace snow officially at Charleston International Airport.
    Significant Freezing Rain Event for Inland Counties northwest of Charleston and Beaufort. 4-8" Snow Accumulation for the Midlands and Upstate.
