Snowfall during the 2002-2003 season was above normal during a long cold winter in which every month featured below normal temperatures. Heavy snow was not limited to the snowbelt. Snow totals ranged from near 60 inches at the Cleveland lakeshore to over 150 inches in northern Geauga County, Ohio. Totals over 100 inches were widespread from southern Cuyahoga County across extreme northern Summit and Portage counties across Geauga and Ashtabula County into northwest Pennsylvania. Snow totals in Erie County were from 100 inches or more at the lakeshore with 143 inches in Erie, just short of the record set a couple of years earlier. Amounts inland across northwest Pennsylvania were from over 200 inches around Edinboro with widespread amounts above 150 inches into Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
