Local modeling at NWS Cleveland

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland, OH runs the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model on a daily basis. Two domains have been configured and output from each run can be viewed on this page. The domains are initialized from the operational GFS 0.5 degree latitude/longitude (~40km) model run at NCEP and the NAM model. One utilizes the ARW core with a horizontal resolution of 4km (outer 12km nest), while the other utilizes the a horizontal resolution of 12km.

Information about the two models:
NAM initialized 4km ARW model:
ARW core, Thompson Double-Moment 6-Class Microphysics, Explicit Convective Scheme, Mellor-Yamada-Janjic PBL scheme run to F42hrs

GFS initialized 12km ARW model:
ARW core, Ferrier Microphysics, Explicit Convective Scheme, Mellor-Yamada-Janjic PBL scheme run to F42hrs

Production schedule
WRF model output from each model is available 2 times per day. As model data becomes available, it will be uploaded to this web page. Be sure to check the "Cycle time" label in the lower left corner of each image to determine which model run is being viewed. Below is a timetable outlining the average time the final images become available on this page:
