CAPE (Convective Available Potential Energy, or B+) and 500m-thick Mixed-Layer (ML) LCL (Lifting Condensation Level) from 2100 UTC LAPS data, right at the time of the tornado. The CAPES are extremely high, showing a tremendous amount of available lift and potential updraft speeds. The ML LCLs are as low as they can get (using a 500km deep, surface-based Mixed Layer) at 1640ft (500m). Low LCL heights (especially those below 1000m) have been shown through research to be a very good signal of the potential for tornadoes to form in highly sheared environments.
