Many of us have heard stories from ancestors of just how snowy it was when they were younger. You may ask, "Are these stories true?"
Well, as we dig deeper into the numbers, it appears they may have something - if you compare the past 100+ years vs. the last 24 years.

The following charts show the individual winter season snowfalls since 1984-1985, and the averages for these more-recent years, and the long-term averages. Continuous weather records have been kept since 1888 in Harrisburg, and since 1895 in both Williamsport and State College.
It is most interesting to note that many of these recent seasons were at or below the averages, while 5 of these seasons during the last two decades really stand out!
