 When Seconds Count, StormReady Communities are Prepared
The National Weather Service (NWS) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Mangement (PEMA) have partnered to bring the citizens of PA the StormReady Program.

Q: Why do we have StormReady Communities? A: Ninety percent of all federally declared disasters are weather related, leading to around 500 deaths per year and nearly $14 billion in damage. To help Americans guard against the ravages of severe weather, the National Weather Service has designed StormReady, a program aimed at arming America's communities with the communication and safety skills necessary to save lives and property.
Q: Whom do I speak to about getting my area StormReady? A: PA has been broken into 3 sections with each section maintaing its own Advisory Board (see map above). Each Board has elected a Chairperson. Contact persons:
Western Pa - Rich Kane at WFO Pittsburgh
Central Pa - Dave Ondrejik at WFO State College
Eastern Pa - David Nicosia at WFO Binghamton for Northeast PA, and/or Joe Miketta at WFO Mount Holly for Southeastern PA.
Q: How does my Community become StormReady?
A: First, you must meet the criteria.
Second, use the appropriate application form to apply for certification:
