...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY AND HIGH SURF ADVISORY CONTINUE FOR THE
NORTHERN OUTER BANKS THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING... 

.THE STRONG NORTH TO NORTHEAST PRESSURE GRADIENT PRODUCED WINDS
AROUND 25 TO 35 KNOTS WITH SEVERAL REPORTS OF OCEAN OVERWASH
ALONG HIGHWAY 12 FROM MIRLO BEACH/RODANTHE NORTH TO KITTY HAWK.
WINDS WILL DIMINISH SLIGHTLY TO 20 TO 30 KNOTS TONIGHT AND SLOWLY
SHIFT MORE NORTHWESTERLY TUESDAY MORNING. EAST-NORTHEAST WAVE
ENERGY WILL PERSIST THROUGH TONIGHTS HIGH TIDE CYCLE AND TUESDAY
MORNINGS HIGH TIDE. ALTHOUGH WINDS SHIFT OFFSHORE BY HIGH TIDE
TUESDAY MORNING...AROUND 9 AM...SEAS WILL TAKE LONGER TO
RESPOND...THUS OCEAN OVERWASH AND BEACH EROSION WILL AGAIN BE
POSSIBLE TUESDAY MORNING IN TYPICALLY VULNERABLE AREAS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY HAS
CANCELLED THE COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY.

NORTHERLY TO NORTHEASTERLY WINDS HAVE DIMINISHED TO 15 TO 20 KNOTS
WITH GUSTS TO 25 KNOTS THUS REDUCING THE POTENTIAL FOR SLOSHING OF
THE PAMLICO SOUND INTO THE ADJACENT BAYS AND UPPER NEUSE RIVER.

* SURF HEIGHT...10 TO 16 FEET.

* TIMING...COASTAL FLOODING IS LIKELY THROUGH TUESDAY WITH THE
  GREATEST THREAT AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE...AROUND 830 PM
  TONIGHT AND 9 AM TUESDAY MORNING. HIGH SURF CONDITIONS WILL ALSO
  LINGER INTO TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...OCEAN OVERWASH AND MINOR BEACH EROSION NORTH OF CAPE 
  HATTERAS.

* COASTAL FLOODING...WATER LEVELS 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE NORMAL NORTH 
  OF CAPE HATTERAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING STRONG SHORE BREAK...DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
