in the eastern half of the U.S.
Upper ridge in the western U.S. has progressed east, and an upper impulse
is tracking toward the Pacific Northwest U.S.
500 Mb impulse just north of North Dakota, this is the impulse that
supports the cyclogenesis off the northeast U.S. roughly 24 hours later
300 Mb jet streak is strengthening in eastern Montana, western South
Dakota and western Nebraska
Initial 300 Mb wind maximum over Tennessee Valley
