The inbound velocity was slightly greater than the outbound velocity, but average rotation around the 25 nautical mile diameter closed center peaked at 62 kt. The radar beam was about 3,000 feet above the ground surface. At the surface, winds were sustained at 30 to 40 kt with gusts near 50 kt.
