Cloud-to-ground lightning was observed by the National Lightning Detection Network from Long Island to the New York City area between 1200 UTC and 1800 UTC. Surface Observations in New York City and New Jersey indicated 2 periods of thunder and lightning with heavy snow, one period around 1200 UTC, the other around 1600 UTC. Cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-air lightning is not accounted for
