WxCoder-III comes to WFO Albany

WxCoder-III - the official web-based entry system for the National Weather Service (NWS) Cooperative Observer Program (COOP)! Combined with IV-ROCS, the telephone entry system, WxCoder-III offers the means for daily entry of weather records for COOP volunteers. WxCoder-III is sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through the National Weather Service, the Regional Climate Center Program and the National Climatic Data Center .

Highlights of the new system:

• Improved quality control of observations as you enter them, minimizing errors.

• Eliminates the need to send in the paper observation forms each month.

• Interfaces with the IV-ROCS telephone system for backup purposes.  If you are going to be out of town and don't want to have your backup observers logging into your account (or if your Internet connection is down), IV-ROCS would be used to relay the observations, and the data would be imported into WXCODER for you.

• Improved editing of old observations, and the ability to add other items not available in the current WXCODER (e.g. time of precipitation occurrence).
