Flashing Flooding Washes out a Portion of the Northway between Exit 23 and 24


A hot humid airmass had resided over the Northeast for days. Each afternoon and evening scattered thunderstorms had popped up. A few storms had produced strong winds and very heavy rain. one cluster of heavy rain producing storms affected southern Warren County between Warrensburg and Lake George Village during the late afternoon. As those storms died, an band of thunderstorms developed further north. Thunderstorms moving from west to east repeatedly affected the same areas of central Warren County between about 6 pm and 9 pm. Over 6 inches of rain fell at Bolton Landing.
