Snow from the March 8, 2005 Storm

A cold front moved through eastern New York and western New England around sunrise. Behind the front, temperatures dropped quickly into the 20s and teens and rain changed to snow. Snow persisted most of the day as an intense storm developed along the New Jersey Coast and moved to Maine by evening. Snowfall was highly variable. There was a small area of very heavy snow (up to a foot and a half) in Rensselaer County near Averill Park Amounts were lighter west of the Hudson River. Strong winds gusting to 50 mph caused considerable blowing snow. (Snowfall totals below)
