NWS Binghamton Outreach Program
The National Weather Service Office in Binghamton, NY is actively involved in educating the communities we serve through the National Weather Service Outreach program. We provide tours of our facilities and provide speakers for groups interested in weather safety and education. Our meteorologists frequently visit our area schools to teach our children about careers in meteorology and general weather safety. We are active members in Project Datastreme, an effort by the American Meteorological Society to train teachers to become meteorology teachers in their schools. We participate in a wide range of community activities, from career fairs and science fairs to large outdoor recreational activities such as the Crappie Derby and Whitney Point Lakefest.
