Severe Storms July 23, 2010

This is a 0.5 Base Reflectivity (left panel) and Storm Relative Motion (right panel) loop from the NWS Binghamton, NY WSR-88D. This loop is from 5:34 PM EDT to 7:08 PM EDT. Damage consistent with a tornado was found in Pleasant Mountain (just northeast of Union Dale, Honesdale and Hawley areas.

There are 4 overlays included with this loop that can be toggled on and off by clicking on the little boxes. One overlay called Meso, will display a circle that will follow the main circulation with this storm. This circulation is called a mesocyclone and is a favorable area for tornado formation.
