• A large area of light snow was located across central New York during the afternoon on the 1st, in a "wrap-around" snow pattern with low pressure far to the northeast.

  • A closed low was forecast to pass east across Pennsylvania.

  • A surface trough was forecast to swing south across the area late in the afternoon.

  • A band of heavy snow developed near the New York / Pa border late in the afternoon.

  • Accumulations of up to 6 inches in 6 hours occurred with the band before it weakened and moved south of the area late in the evening. The band of heavy snow was approximately 10 to 20 miles wide.
