RUC cross-sections of frontogenesis and stability at 16z were similar to the forecasts made by the NAM and GFS models. A sloping region of frontogenesis was located over central NY, associated with strong upward vertical motion. The upward vertical motion was co-located with mid-level instability in the area where banding developed.
