  • The first significant snowstorm of the season hit northeast Pa on November 18-19, 2007, with nearly a foot of snow at higher elevations.

  • The large-scale pattern associated with the storm did not appear to be supportive of heavy snow.

  • Co-located frontogentical forcing and reduced stability focused lift into bands of heavier snow.

  • Model QPF forecasts were underdone over northeast Pennsylvania, although some improvement occurred with decreasing lead-time.
