StormReady

The NWS designed StormReady to help communities better prepare for and mitigate effects of extreme weather-related events.
StormReady also helps establish a commitment to creating an infrastructure and systems that will save lives and protect property.

Some of the basic requirements for a community/county to be considered StormReady:
1. Establish a 24 hour warning point to receive NWS information and provide local reports
2. Warning points and Emergency Operations Centers need multiple ways to receive NWS warnings
3. The warning point or EOC must be able to monitor weather information, especially radar data
4. Once NWS warnings are received, the warning point or EOC must be able to disseminate the information to their population
5. Conduct community preparedness weather-safety talks, accomplish weather-related safety campaigns, and host a spotter training session
