The responsibilities of our staff include making weather forecasts across 25 counties of Western and Central New York for the public and for aviation interests, issuing severe weather warnings and advisories for 16 counties, marine forecasts and warnings for Lakes Erie and Ontario , gathering local climatological data, and using weather balloons to get upper air information. We also develop and participate in research projects to help increase humankind's knowledge of the atmosphere.
