Lake Erie ice cover Jan 3rd, 2001

This image was taken at 9:15AM on January 3rd.  The contrast on the image is not that good because of the low sun angle at this time of the day.  Thick ice is apparent on the west end, an ice shield extends out as far east as Long Point, then there is clear water from Long Point to near Buffalo.  Finally, you can clearly see ice along the entire New York shore and at the east end around Buffalo.
