In this color enhanced IR image you can see plumes off Lake Huron but there is very little evidence of banding off Lakes Erie and Ontario.

By Thursday morning however, you can see a nice cloud band over Lake Erie.  As I have often observed with these bands, it looks as though Long Point may enhance the convergence of the band at the east end of the lake. On Lake Ontario you can see at least some suggestion of a connection from Georgian Bay.  But it looks as though the connection stays north of the main cloud band on the lake.  This is important and may be a reason why the lake Ontario band really never got going.  Research done by SUNY Brockport and Oswego along with the NWS office in Buffalo has shown that the upwind lakes may enhance or actually diminish lake effect activity depending on how well the upwind plumes line up with the plumes on Lake Ontario.
