Satellite
Analysis Using Different Enhancement Curves

It
is sometimes difficult to disintguish lake effect snowbands from other
cloud cover. The image on the left is visible imagery. The
image on the right is the "GOES - derived fog and low cloud" image that
allows us to distinguish water from ice clouds. We have found it
useful ni the analysis of some lake effect cloudbands like the one shown
here. These images were taken at about 1915GMT December 31st.
"Composite"
Radar Image
In
this image we have made a mosaic of the radar images from Buffalo and Montague,
NY. The radar image is at 1905GMT, December 31st, or about the same
time as the satellite images taken above. The mosaic isn't perfect,
but it's pretty close!
