Eta model 48-hour Time Sections for Buffalo, NY,   02 June 00z through 04 June 00z are shown below.   In the top image the omega field (dashed green lines) and winds are plotted to show the tremendous vertical motion that develops over Buffalo by 00z June 3rd.   The bottom image depicts the same winds overlaid onto the theta-e field (solid green lines) to show the abundance of low level moisture that fueled the thunderstorm development.  You should also take note of the 02/18z wind profile.  The 0-3km veering wind profile was very favorable for severe storms.
