WSR-88D 0.5 Degree Storm Relative Velocity and Cross Section of Storm Relative Velocity for Tornadic Storm in Wyoming County

    0.5 degree Storm Relative Velocity

This image shows the Storm Relative Velocity over central Wyoming county at the time of the tornado.  Although not shown on this screen, a Tornado vortex Signature TVS was indicated at this location.  The white line is the cut that we took through the tornado to produce the cross section  below.  

 

The storm relative velocity cross section clearly shows the inbound/outbound (green/red) cyclonically rotating couplet at the lowest levels in the vicinity of the observed tornado.  The lowest scan  was about 2700 ft MSL at this distance from the radar.
