Experimental Graphics. In
an effort to provide a higher level of service the National Weather Service
office in Buffalo
is producing graphics of the forecast high temperatures, low temperatures, and
probability of precipitation across western and central New York. These experimental
graphics
will be produced around 4 AM and 4 PM each day and will not be updated in
between these times.
November (11/1/2001) Climatology. Updated Snowfall Tables for Buffalo and Rochester. Added a Monthly Precipitation table for Rochester. Updated Precipitation table for Buffalo. Created new Heating and Cooling Degree Day tables for Buffalo and Rochester.
October (10/26/2001) Winter Preparedness Week. Governor George Pataki has proclaimed the week of November 4-10 as Winter Preparedness Week in the Empire State. The National Weather Service joins with the Governor and the agencies of the State Disaster Preparedness Commission in promoting winter weather safety to all New Yorkers.
September (09/07/2001) Severe Weather Graphic. A plot of thunderstorm winds and hail for the 2001 severe weather season.
August (08/18/2001) New Wind Chill Temperature. The NWS is planning to implement a replacement Wind Chill Temperature (WCT) index for the 2001/2002 winter season. (08/15/2001) Graphical Forecasts. Experimental Graphical Forecasts for each county are now available. (08/13/2001) 2000 Climate Data. Meteorological Data for Buffalo NY for 2000 is now available. June (06/19/2001) Lightning Safety Awareness Week. National Lightning Safety Awareness Week is from June 18 through June 22 2001. April (04/25/2001) 2000-2001 Winter Season. A review of the Western New York 2000-2001 Winter Season is now available. (04/13/2001) WMO Headers. World Meteorological Organization (WMO) product identifiers will be changing on May 8, 2001. These change will affect many high priority products. Customers that receive NWS products will need to make sure their communications systems reflect these changes. Failure to do so will prevent some warnings or other high priority products from being received. (04/12/2001) Monroe County is StormReady. Congratulations to Monroe County for becoming StormReady. StormReady is a new Nationwide program of the National Weather Service that gives communities and counties the skills needed to survive severe weather; both before and during the event. The program is voluntary and provides entities with clear-cut advice from a partnership with the local National Weather Service office, as well as state and local emergency managers. StormReady recognizes programs that take a pro-active approach to improving local hazardous weather operations and public awareness. See how your community can become StormReady. March (03/16/2001) Snow Depth Climatology. A comprehensive analysis of snow depth at Buffalo NY over the past 50 years. (03/15/2001) Weather Hazards Awareness Week. The National Weather Service joins with the Governor and the agencies of the State Disaster Preparedness Commission in promoting severe weather safety to all New Yorkers. January (1/19/2001) Daily Normals and Records. A new and comprehensive look at daily temperature and precipitation normals, records, and sun times for Buffalo and Rochester is now available on the climatology page. (1/09/2001) Amateur Radio Special Event. The Buffalo National Weather Service participated in the 2nd Annual ARRL - SKYWARN special event. The event was held during the first weekend of December 2000. For details and pictures of the event in Buffalo click here...Special Event 2000. (1/05/2001) Spring Flood Outlook. The Spring Flood Outlook is now available. This product will be updated every two weeks through early April. This product will give an overview of the flooding potential during the late winter and early spring caused by snowmelt and ice jamming. (1/05/2001) NWS Buffalo Snow Spotter Network. Monthly data for the NWS Buffalo Snowspotter Network has been updated through December 2000. Our observers will continue to submit their reports for the Niagara Frontier, Western Southern Tier, Genesee Valley/Western Finger Lakes and the Eastern Lake Ontario regions throughout the winter season. Check back for updated snowfall totals for the 2000-2001 snow season. (1/02/2001) NWS Buffalo Radar Page. The new NWS Buffalo radar page is now available. Radar imagery available through our website is now linked directly to the NWS radar web server. You can view single frame, loops, and have direct access to all NWS radar sites. (1/02/2001) 2000 Annual Summary. The 2000 Annual Summary for Buffalo is now available. A comprehensive look at the year that was in Buffalo Weather. |
