PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...UPDATED TO INCLUDE LATEST SNOW TOTALS National weather service Caribou ME 555 PM EST Sun Dec 31 2000 Winter storm impacts northern and downeast Maine The same storm responsible for heavy snow in much of the northeast has also brought snow to northern and downeast Maine. 7 To 12 inches of snow fell at most locations. The only exception is right along the coast where warmer air off of the Atlantic changed the snow over to rain. Some light additional accumulation is still possible in northern Maine, where snow showers will continue tonight.
