Snowfall during the 2001-2002 season was below normal in what turned out to be a very mild winter. Snow totals in northeast Ohio ranged from less than 30 inches in Cleveland with less than 20 inches south of Canton and Wooster. Totals in the heart of the Geauga County snowbelt east of Cleveland were from 60 to about 80 inches. Totals in northwest Pennsylvania were closer to normal since the lake water remained ice free and lake effect snows continued all winter. Snowfall amounts ranged from 80 to 100 inches at the Erie County lakeshore with 130 inches inland.
