Snowfall during the 2003-2004 season was above normal. The majority of the snow fell in December 2003 and January and March 2004. Mild temperatures resulted in quick melts in December and again in March but January was cold and snowy. Some sections of the snowbelt were near or over 100 inches for the month of January 2004 alone. Average seasonal snow ranged from 55 inches to 75 inches along the lakeshore east of Cleveland with over 100 inches common inland in the snowbelt. Snow totals were near records - just above 200 inches in localized sections of northern Geauga County in northeast Ohio and inland Erie County Pennsylvania.
